AC surge arrester 2P 50 kA Type T2 Mersen
Manufacturer: Mersen
INDEX: 44020202
AC surge arrester, Surge-Trap® K model – K2 series, is a Type 2/Class II device designed to protect against induced voltage surges (8/20 μs).
It is installed as a second line of defence when a Type 1 arrester is already present in the electrical installation. It can serve as the main protection in locations such as homes or commercial buildings that are not directly exposed to lightning strikes and where no external lightning protection system is installed.
The AC surge arrester protects against induced surges, usually caused by nearby lightning strikes or a direct hit to the building, as well as voltage spikes in the power grid caused by faults or the switching of large electrical loads.
It is installed to protect the electrical system of the building and the devices within it, especially where buildings are powered by photovoltaic installations.
