KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 5.5 kW is a three-phase hybrid inverter designed for residential photovoltaic installations and systems working with high-voltage energy storage. It is the mid-range power variant in the PLENTICORE G3 S class, combining the compact design of this device class with higher power than the base 4 kW model and the option of further system expansion.

The 5.5 kW model can operate as a PV, hybrid or battery inverter. Battery functionality can also be activated at a later stage, allowing the system to be installed initially as a standard PV system and later expanded with a battery. PLENTICORE G3 features three independent MPPT trackers, while one of the DC inputs can be used either as a PV input or as a battery input.

5.5 kW with the option of further power expansion

The PLENTICORE G3 5.5 kW version is the second power level of the S-class device. If the installation is expanded further, the inverter can be digitally upgraded to 7 kW without replacing the device. The upgrade is carried out by activating the appropriate KOSTAL function.

This makes the 5.5 kW model a good choice for installations where current demand exceeds the capabilities of the 4 kW version, while retaining reserve capacity for future system expansion.

Ready for energy storage

PLENTICORE G3 5.5 kW features three DC inputs and three independent MPPTs. DC3 can be used to connect either a PV array or a compatible energy storage system. For the 5.5 kW version, the maximum PV generator power is 8.25 kWp, while the maximum battery input power is 8.25 kW.

Once the battery function has been activated, the inverter can store surplus energy generated by the PV system and use it at a later time, increasing self-consumption.

Three-phase backup power

PLENTICORE G3 supports three-phase backup power. When combined with an energy storage system and a suitable external switching device, the system can continue supplying loads during a grid outage.

In the S class, the inverter can provide up to 7 kVA of rated apparent power in backup mode, giving the 5.5 kW model additional reserve for backup operation and possible future power expansion.

Intelligent energy management

The inverter is equipped with a self-learning shade management system, dynamic power control and functions for measuring and controlling energy flows. Support for Modbus / SunSpec enables integration with automation and Smart Home systems.

Communication interfaces include WLAN, two LAN ports and four digital outputs. The system can be monitored via KOSTAL Solar Portal and the KOSTAL Solar App, while the AutoUpdate function allows the inverter software to be updated automatically.
