KOSTAL PLENTICORE G3 8.5 kW is a three-phase hybrid inverter designed for residential photovoltaic installations and systems working with high-voltage energy storage. It is the base power variant in the PLENTICORE G3 M class, intended for installations requiring higher power and performance than S-class models, while retaining the option of further expansion without replacing the inverter.

The 8.5 kW model can operate as a PV, hybrid or battery inverter. Battery functionality can also be activated at a later stage, allowing the system to be installed initially as a standard PV system and later expanded with a battery. PLENTICORE G3 features three independent MPPT trackers, while one of the DC inputs can be used either as a PV input or as a battery input.

8.5 kW as the entry point to the M class

The PLENTICORE G3 8.5 kW version is the base power level of the M-class device. If power demand increases, the inverter can be digitally upgraded to 10 kW and then to 12.5 kW without replacing the device. The upgrade is carried out by activating the appropriate KOSTAL function.

This makes the 8.5 kW model a good choice for installations where more power is required from the outset than the S class can provide, while maintaining the option of further increasing system power in the future.

Higher power for PV and energy storage

PLENTICORE G3 8.5 kW features three DC inputs and three independent MPPTs. DC3 can be used to connect either a PV array or a compatible energy storage system. For the 8.5 kW version, the maximum PV generator power is 12.75 kWp, while the maximum battery input power is 12.75 kW.

Once the battery function has been activated, the inverter can store surplus energy generated by the PV system and use it at a later time, increasing self-consumption and the flexibility of energy management in the building.

Three-phase backup power up to 12.5 kVA

PLENTICORE G3 supports three-phase backup power. When combined with an energy storage system and a suitable external switching device, the system can continue supplying loads during a grid outage.

In the M class, the inverter can provide up to 12.5 kVA of rated apparent power in backup mode, offering greater backup capacity than S-class models and leaving additional reserve for future power expansion.

Intelligent energy management

The inverter is equipped with a self-learning shade management system, dynamic power control and functions for measuring and controlling energy flows. Support for Modbus / SunSpec enables integration with automation and Smart Home systems.

Communication interfaces include WLAN, two LAN ports and four digital outputs. The system can be monitored via KOSTAL Solar Portal and the KOSTAL Solar App, while the AutoUpdate function allows the inverter software to be updated automatically.
