SolarEdge Home Backup Interface BI-EU3P is a three-phase device that enables the home installation to automatically switch to backup power in the event of a utility grid outage. Depending on the system design, the interface can provide backup power to the entire building or only to selected circuits.

The BI-EU3P model is designed to operate with the SolarEdge Home energy management system. Integration with a compatible inverter enables the management of photovoltaic energy production, energy storage and power supply to loads during a grid outage.

The device features an integrated energy meter for measuring energy import and export, eliminating the need to install an additional meter in the system. Communication with the other components of the installation is provided via the RS485 interface.

Automatic backup power

In the event of a grid outage, the interface automatically disconnects all three phases and the neutral conductor from the external grid, enabling the installation to switch to island mode. The switching time to backup power is less than 3 seconds.

The interface supports a maximum input and output current of 3 × 63 A. The solution can be scaled to support installations with higher power and performance requirements.
