Tigo Communication Gateway provides a reliable wireless connection at 2.4 GHz with each Tigo optimiser installed under a PV module. To monitor the entire system, installation of a Tigo gateway is required. To increase system coverage, additional gateways should be installed and interconnected via an RS485 connection.
The RS485 connection between gateways and Cloud Connect should be made using UV-resistant, twisted-pair cable with two pairs. The Tigo gateway should be mounted centrally within the PV installation—under a module or on the support structure frame.
Each gateway can communicate with up to 300 optimisers, maintaining a maximum distance of 10 metres between each. The system is designed so that the signal is passed from optimiser to optimiser. If there is a gap longer than 10 metres, an additional Tigo gateway should be installed.
Each gateway in the PV installation connects to a CCA module. You can connect up to 7 Tigo gateways and in total up to 900 optimisers to one CCA module. Each CCA module and gateway are connected using twisted-pair cable via RS485.
